Browsing the internet looking for designers that work with ecofriendly beads, I ran into this video which I found very interesting. We are trying to gather as much information as possible about artworks made with tagua beads. We would like to show as much people as possible about this noble natural material, seed beads.
Annie Chajing is an international designer that has been working with Tagua for many years. I have even read that her accessory line is name “Change the World”. In fact, we strongly believe using seed beads helps to preserve the world. Why you might ask? Well, not only tagua is a natural product, but as tagua palm grown in the rain forest, its trading help to preserve it. Farmers won’t have the necessity of cutting tagua as they get from it a nut that generated income. As a result, no deforestation takes place in these areas.
Another benefit, is the social economical benefits not only people (fair trade) of these rural areas, but all the productive chain: Wholesales of nuts, people con dry, cut, peel, as well as the factories that shape and dye it, traders, designers, and final customer.
