Since 1990 is totally prohibited hunting elephants in all African countries. However, there are still 70,000 killings annually removing the tusks: less than 1,000 tons of ivory.
Many claim that the main reason elephants are hunted is for their tusks. It is also a sport and thus promote the tourist.
Was not this activity prohibited? Will it be a matter of law or common sense to put in risk the permanence of life on earth? ¿Ignorance, selfishness or ambition?

More research is needed. For example, to replace elephant ivory there is tagua, which generates an eco ivory, used in haute couture and fashion tagua beads and jewelry, without affecting the environment nor wildlife.
Each element on the planet has a purpose and part of the balance of nature and human beings we attempt day to day.
The most recent happened about the hunting of these animals was in Spain. King Juan Carlos was injured, when he says he was hunting elephants. Activists for animal rights protesters with banners “These are the real victims of the hunt” near the hospital where the King was hospitalized.
These animals are affected by several factors overhunting, deforestation and water pollution, all caused by human activity. A few days ago the man celebrated Earth Day today and continuing habitat destruction, overexploitation of resources, trade in species, pollution, etc.. And I have a concern end. When will we stop celebrating and begin acting?
