Known for its importance for biodiversity to be considered part of the lung of humanity, the rainforest can be a source of income for some of the thousands of Ecuadorians in search of better living conditions.
The tagua seed born of a wild palm whose scientific name is Phytelephas aequatorialis, also known as vegetable ivory, palm produces annually fifteen mocochas, which are ears that have a hard shell with projections, which protects about thirty seeds or nuts, of which the collars are made. 
After passing through dryers, polishers, cutters, polishers and dyeing section, the rustic seed, hard, black outside and white and beige on the inside, it becomes part of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and other items in the current source of income for many Ecuadorians.
The jewelry products has become nowadays a favorite of the ladies, a clear example is the fashion show where the use of tagua beads and jewelry produced from them are the protagonists.
