Poroto comes from a tree that grows in tropical and subtropical areas worldwide. The seeds grow in pods of scarlet with dark lines, are reddish in color and appearance much like a common bean. Most species contain an alkaloid for what they have been used for medicinal purposes in the Amazon.
 

Warning: Do not expose the seeds to humidity, chemical products (perfumes,
colognes, alcohol, etc.) or fire. Clean with a flannel to conserve the shining.
