The Rábida Island is located 5 km south of Santiago Island and is commonly considered the geographic center of the Galapagos Islands.
It has an area of 4.9 km² and a maximum altitude of 367 meters. It has a high iron content, which causes this place to have a characteristic reddish color, considered as a piece of Mars.
It is an uninhabited island, where you can enjoy its exceptional natural and animal beauty. It is home to large populations of sea lions, flamingos and pelicans.
The Rábida Island has a zigzag path, where you can walk between Opuntia cactus and Palo Santo trees that also cover the island's volcanic peak.
On the island Rábida, it is the only place where you can observe the nesting sites of the pelicans very close.
This volcanic island is also a good place to dive accompanied by sea lions, sharks, rays and dolphins. The most frequent dolphin to appear is the bottlenose dolphin and with a little luck you will also see the other two varieties: the spinner and the common dolphin.
The Chinese Hat Island, is an islet that takes its name from a miniature volcanic cone similar in shape to a Chinese hat. It is located near the southeast coast of Santiago.
Its spectacular beach with white coral sand is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Galapagos Islands.
In this islet you will find coastal vegetation of plants tolerant to salt water, palo santo and others. Regarding the animals that you can see and photograph are the lava lizards, marine iguanas, Sally lighfoot crabs, coastal birds and sea lions, penguins, hawks.
