For many people, the relationship between humans and animals is given only in terms of need. For others, that special bond has only one name: love. A pet is synonymous with love, affection and happiness, in many cases, the pet stops being a simple animal and becomes a member of the family, we will always want the best for them.
I have a french puppy, at the end of 2017, he was very nervous because of the fireworks that were launched in my city for the celebration of the new year. I did not want to eat, I was trembling, I took him to the vet, and he gave him some medicines, that calmed him down a bit, but he also recommended aromatherapy, if they have read my other publications they know that I practice this therapy, but I did not know that the animals could also practice them.
The aromatherapy, it is a branch of alternative medicine in which it consists of smelling and perceiving aromas of natural essential oils to heal the body and mind of a living being. We must bear in mind that human beings do not possess the same sense of smell as a pet or animal. The sense of smell of animals, is a little more acute, so when practicing aromatherapy you must reduce the essential oil with a little water.
Pets can get advantages from essential oils. With the essential oils you can eliminate the bad body odor, you can treat fleas, ticks, itching and some infections, and as in most cases, it serves to relax the mind and body in situations of travel stress, poorly time or thunderous sounds.
Now pay attention to the following list of essential oils that you can use for the benefit of your pet.
This essential oil is Ideal to use during training. It helps concentration and will enhance your attention. In addition, it repels insects and helps the circulatory system.
This oil is one of the most common, within aromatherapy, peppermint essential oil provides several benefits in our body and our pet. This essential oil helps you relax and eliminate stress, and its pleasant smell helps lift your spirits.
Pay attention at this point. The essential oil of palo santo, has a woody citrus aroma, which helps to eliminate stress. Being 100% natural, it possesses limonene, a medicinal compound of the Palo Santo, known to be a strong agent, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antihongo, antiseptic.
With this oil, you can also eliminate fleas and ticks. I recommend mixing a few drops of Palo Santo essential oil with your favorite shampoo. Allow the foam to act on the dog for twenty minutes before rinsing. This will kill any existing ticks or prevent new ones from appearing.
Eucalyptus oil, you can use it to scare away insects, but its smell will help improve the mood and mental stimulation of your pet, because it helps increase the flow of blood to the brain.
Remember that essential oils should always be diluted for their application, since they are so concentrated that otherwise they could be irritating. I recommend diluting with a little water or with other vegetable or neutral oils, they can use (rose hip oil, sweet almond oil or wheat germ oil, for example). Do not forget that the sense of smell of our pets is much more developed than ours, therefore, they should not use the same proportions, the essential oil should be diluted much more. If you are not sure of the proportions visit a veterinarian.
