Palo Santo Project 50 Ha: Inspection of the Ministry of the Environment of Ecuador(MAE), of the 15 hectares of legal conversion

The project palo santo joa 50 Ha, continues advancing with firm step. W proceeded to send an official letter addressed to the Ministry of the Environment of Ecuador (MAE) on October 12, 2018, in which it was reported that as a social task towards the people of the Joa / Jipijapa commune, it will be carried out jointly, the diversified production for food security of the community, including maize and other varieties, within 30% (15Has) of the 50 hectares under protective forest process, which, as stipulated in PMI number 06308007502, conversion zone is approved.

On Monday, December 3, 2018, the Forestry Technician of the Department of Natural Heritage of the Ministry of the Environment of Ecuadort (MAE) Roberto Orlando, visited the community of Joa, to perform the analysis of the 15 hectares that are planned to lend to the community and commented that it is a good idea to involve the community, since it helps to generate income and at the same time helps to take care of the land and the forest, "this system is called agroforestry, which will help dry forests do not disappear anymore that are currently disappearing"

Upon reaching the area where corn is planned to be planted, it was noted that the problem of land invasion still exists. A sign had been placed without authorization, which informed, that the owner of the land is Carlos S, when the land belongs to us, we proceeded to remove the sign from the area, under the supervision of the forestry technician, who took pictures of everything that happened.

This problem of invasion of property, is one of the causes, that generates the mortality of the trees of palo santo, which have been planted by us since 2016 in its reforestation program, for this reason that is why we proceeded to involve the State and the community and manage to declare the 50 hectares where the saplings are planted, in order to reduce the mortality rate and thus regenerate the dry forests of Manabí.
