How to care for sensitive skin naturally?

As we know, in the world there are different types of skin. Each one with different characteristics and specific care according to what is needed. The skin is considered one of the largest organs in our body. Therefore, he is constantly exposed to aggression. This important organ of our body is a protective agent and you have to give it the care it deserves. Being an extensive organ of our body, the thickness of the skin varies in different areas. The thinnest area is the eyelid skin and the thickest is the soles of the feet. Interestingly in man, the skin is 20% thicker than the woman; which produces half of the sebum on the skin as opposed to man. The type of skin is genetically determined and It varies internal or external factors to which it is subjected.

According to each organism there are different types of skin; of which 4 are considered healthy, these are:

  • Healthy skin: Considered as a skin not so dry, not so oily. This type of skin is balanced. Its scientific name is Eudermica.

  • Dry Skin: This term is used to refer to the low production of normal sebum in the skin.

  • Oily skin: This skin is described as oily, for its increased production of sebum.

  • Mixed skin: This type of skin is a mixture of several types; oily and dry. Usually in the T zone of the face.

But, What happens when it is a sensitive skin?; or, How can we take care of it?.

Normally people with sensitive skin, they take strict care of their skin. Sensitive skin can be genetic or acquired by improper care. This type of skin is characterized by being thin, clear and sometimes dry. Sensitive skin can easily redden or desquamate; and inadequate hygiene spoils it and causes severe damage.

In the case of sensitive skin; each one has type its kind of sensitivity and they are the following:

  • Dehydrated skin: sensitivity with feeling of discomfort.

  • Very dry dry skin: sensitivity for loss of protective functions. Wrinkles appear on the skin.

  • Mixed or oily skin: sensitivity in the T zone, on the fins of the nose and on the top of the cheekbones.

  • Skin with sensitivity to the environment: They usually react immediately to any change in climate.

Once taking into account these data, It is good to learn how to take care of our skin. Both in food and with proper hygiene. In my case being a person with sensitive skin; I would recommend that the more natural the products and care are, It is better for our skin.

Having sensitive skin is keeping in mind, that you must have strict health care and  esthetic.

  • It is important to consume water. Our body is approximately 75% water. Therefore our skin has to be hydrated. It is advisable to drink 2 to 3 liters of water daily. But if you prefer another hydration option you can use water with lemon, an infusion of fruit or tea.

  • It is good to consume foods rich in antioxidants. Preferable of organic origin, which have not been treated with pesticides. So we help fight free radicals.

  • Include components rich in zinc.

  • Avoid consumption of acidic foods and prefer alkaline foods.

  • In hygiene it is preferable to use hypoallergenic or special products for sensitive skin.

  • It is advisable to wash our face daily, using a naturally occurring soap and neutral pH. In this case you can use the palo santo soap for its limonene content, antibacterial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. washing the face in the morning and at night.   • Another very good option is the use of essential oils. These oils through home aromatic or steam baths, they help us moisturize the skin and prevent dryness.
